Ristorante Pappardelle was opened in November 1988 by Bruno and Clive Mina as a small, family run Italian restaurant, a family whose roots are in the Veneto in north east Italy. Although the experience of dining out has changed greatly over almost 33 years, the core values that define the best examples of Italian cuisine and Pappardelle in particular remain unchanged; freshness, quality, simplicity and style. In 2010 the Osteria opened on the ground floor.
Perfectly complimenting the Ristorante upstairs, the Osteria offers a more informal style of food at pace, but with the same emphasis on quality and style. It also boasts a well stocked bar with the largest wine list in Arundel and the most extensive grappa selection outside London. Shortly afterwards Bruno and Clive were joined by Emma, Clive’s wife and Osteria ’Boss’. They, together with all the team at Pappardelle look forward to welcoming you, whatever your appetite.
(Note, both the Osteria and the Ristorante have air-conditioning during the few hot months of Summer).

‘…cose semplici fatte bene….’ (Simple things done well)
‘Its my favourite place for coffee, and the home-made biscotto I get with it is amazing; shame they don’t sell them by the kilo!’ (Victoria – Arundel)
*Pronounced ‘Ostereea’ ([oste’ria]) ‘L’osteria: from the Latin “hospes” meaning “guest”. A public place which served drinks; traditionally wine. The emphasis in the Osteria is on simple, fresh food served with style and professionalism. The character of the dining room/bar changes through the day; breakfast is from 9, lunch from 12 to at least 3pm, though food is often available up until 5.30pm when the evening menu proper begins. These menus represent the perfect balance between choice, quality, and convenience. We are especially proud of our Eggs Benedict (Breakfast), and Cichetti menu. (Evening). The OSTERIA is open for whatever takes your fancy, come in and say ‘ciao!’
The Osteria Bar
The Osteria bar has a predominantly italian wine list of over 50 bottles, most of which available by the glass. A good selection of Cocktails, Champagnes, Proseccos, Gins, whiskies, Grappas, Artisan beers and draught Moretti also figure. Click here to download our current list.

Ristorante Special Offers/Events
We are happy to offer exclusive use of the Ristorante dining-room for parties and special occasions of 20 or more adults, any lunchtime of the week including Sundays Mondays and Tuesdays. Our special party layout of large square tables are great for conversation, laughter and creating a sense of occasion. There is also standing room for pre-meal drinks and chit-chat, as well as use of the Osteria bar.
The Ristorante menus are built on seasonality and innovation, turning classic flavours into something entirely new. We only use top-quality British and Italian ingredients and look to support local and Artisan producers wherever possible. In the summer of 2017, the Ristorante menu evolved into a more streamlined 2 page selection; a mix of dishes based upon the classics of Italian cooking, some that have been part of the Ristorante menu for almost 30 years, and newer dishes that change every 2 months reflecting the changing seasons and the creativity of the chefs ‘upstairs’. Almost all of our menu is assembled and cooked fresh to order, something we consider essential to the quality of the final dish. This is in stark contrast to other production line ‘Italian’ restaurants who have to pre-cook pasta and sauces because of the large numbers they are often forced to cater for. Whether it’s the reassurance of our classics or you’re in the mood for something more adventurous, then you’ll find something to satisfy.
As we come out of lockdown we are finding that a higher proportion of reservations are not turning up, or cancelling within a couple of hours of being sat. This, together with the tables we have had to remove to ensure adequate distancing is not sustainable. Therefore, customers who are new to Pappardelle may well be contacted for a refundable deposit, especially at the weekends. Thereafter, a deposit will not be requested.
ALL FRIDAY AND SATURDAY EVENING BOOKINGS ARE FOR UP TO 2 HOURS.
